πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Clallam County Health and Human Services launched Project SAFER (Special Assistance For Emergency Response) on August 20, 2026, to enhance safety during emergency encounters involving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

The initiative allows families and caregivers to complete a SAFER Response Form detailing communication preferences and approach strategies for first responders. The forms will be stored in a HIPAA-compliant database accessible to police, fire, and emergency personnel. The form can be completed online, by mail, or in person at the Clallam County Department of Health and Human Services office.

A community event for Project SAFER will be held at the Clallam County Fairgrounds on August 20, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees will receive free fair entrance tickets. The event aims to bring together families, caregivers, and emergency personnel to foster understanding and collaboration.
