Multiple WA highways to close for maintenance

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Multiple Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) highway closures begin this week for maintenance and construction work. The northbound I-5 off-ramp to Southcenter Parkway (milepost 154) will close nightly from Aug. 10-14, and SR 169 will close for 35 days starting Aug. 17 for fish barrier removal near Jones Lake.

State Route 96 will alternate traffic with flaggers daily from Aug. 10-14, and SR 203 will have alternating traffic with flaggers and pilot cars through Aug. 28. The Snohomish River Bridge on SR 9 will see flagger-controlled traffic on Aug. 15-16. WSDOT states that detours will be signed for closures and local access will remain available.

WSDOT reports these closures are necessary for infrastructure maintenance and environmental improvements. The fish barrier removal on SR 169 aims to improve fish passage, while other work focuses on road maintenance and utility upgrades.
