Port Angeles City Council voted to pause approvals for new data center developments on September 3, 2026. The council will hold a public hearing this fall to consider a moratorium on data centers, according to the Peninsula Daily News. The decision follows concerns about infrastructure strain and environmental impact from existing data center proposals. Residents and local officials are awaiting the fall hearing to determine whether to limit or prohibit new data center construction in the city. The council's action means no new data center permits will be issued until after the fall public hearing, which has not yet been scheduled.
