Project SAFER Event Set for August 20

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Clallam County will host a Project SAFER event at the Clallam County Fairgrounds on August 20, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event aims to connect families with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) with first responders through collaboration and information sharing.

The Project SAFER Response Form allows families to provide first responders with communication preferences and strategies for emergency encounters. The form, protected under HIPAA, will be stored in a database accessible to police, fire, and emergency personnel. Registration for the event provides free fair entrance tickets, with no deadline for registration. Volunteers will distribute tickets at the yellow ticket booth gate.

The event follows feedback from community members, including a special education teacher who praised the response form as "a brilliant idea" to help first responders understand how to communicate with individuals with I/DD during emergencies.
