Port Angeles' Pyper Alton became the first female driver to win a Legends car race at Evergreen Speedway during the August 25, 2026 event. The victory marks a milestone in the local racing series, with Alton breaking a long-standing gender barrier. The Peninsula Daily News reported that Alton 'just keeps breaking the mold' in the racing community. The Port Angeles School District announced teachers are seeking a new contract, with sides scheduled to meet Wednesday and vote on Friday. Clallam County is processing cases vacated by the state's Blake decision, which removes drug possession from criminal records. The county is implementing this change for cases processed before August 25, 2026.
