Jefferson County Public Health announced that biotoxin levels in Quilcene Bay and Dabob Bay have dropped below closure limits for certain shellfish species, including littleneck clams, manila clams, mussels, and oysters. This allows recreational harvesting of those species to resume.
Butter and varnish clams remain closed due to longer toxin retention, and a Vibrio Warning remains in effect requiring all shellfish to be cooked. Signs have been posted at public access points to inform the public. The Washington Department of Health and WDFW provide resources for safe harvesting at doh.wa.gov/ShellfishSafety.htm and wdfw.wa.gov/places-to-go/shellfish-beaches.
