The Washington State Patrol graduated 62 new troopers during a ceremony at the state Capitol Rotunda on September 10, 2026. The 122nd Trooper Basic Training Class and 6th Trooper Lateral Training Class completed over 1,400 hours of training, including 10,064 driver contacts and 561 impaired drivers removed from roadways during their two-month coaching trip.
Chief John R. Batiste thanked the new troopers and their families for their commitment to public service. The training included classroom instruction and practical exercises at the WSP Academy in Shelton, with graduates sworn in by Washington State Supreme Court Justice Raquel Montoya-Lewis.
